One of the first cars people get when they start Scalextric is the iconic Mini Cooper. The Mini and Scalextric go way back. They have many things in common: they are British icons, small and are known worldwide.

The first Scalextric Mini Cooper was released in 1965 and became a must have for any racer. They were light weight, came in a variety of colour schemes and accelerated very quickly from a standing start, all requirements for a Scalextric car to succeed.

Between 1965 and 2008, 58 different Mini Coopers were released, along with various other Coopers like the Clubman.  Scalextric released sets for the Italian Job movie and cars for the remake.

Scalextric now sponsor a team in The Mini Classic race series.
